visitor visa expiry

Post by kesh1 » Tue Apr 19, 2005 11:25 am

Hello all
I am little worried about my mother's visitor visa, if anyone could clarify the following things, i will be very thankful.

1. my mothers visitor visa(valid for 6 months) is expires in last week of june and she has never visited uk before, now I want to bring her here for three weeks in end of may until 3 week of june. since her visa is expiring in last week of june, will she have any problem with the immigration in the airport?.
a friend of mine says people on visitor visa must make thier trip before three months of expiry.

I need some experienced people advice as we are very much worried.

please can someone help us on this.

thank you

Her visa is valid for entry and stay in the UK during its validity. The holding of the visa is prima facie evidence that she meets the rules for entry in the visitor class so there should be no issues. Nevertheless the Immigration Officer has final say at the Port of Entry to allow or refuse leave to enter.

IMHO the IO will likley enquire as to reasons for the delayed entry, length of visit and details pertaining to available support as well as details of her UK sponser i.e. UK status, employed, accomodation etc. It is best if she carries all the documents (copies are o.k.) used to support her visa application for presentation to the IO if required.

The IO may also require her to have a chest x-ray so tell her to carry one to save a lengthy wait at arrivals. Your mother must leave the UK on or before the date her visa expires.
