Do you think Job opportunities will become more less in UK ?

Britain has been tightening its immigration laws by introducing a points-based Australian model, to reduce the numbers of immigrants taking up jobs.

The latest changes in the law attempt to ensure that the maximum number of British jobs go to the British workers. These changes will come into effect from the end of November.

They will cut down as many as 300,000 jobs open to highly-skilled immigrants from non-EU countries, looking to enter the UK in the future.

The Migration Advisory Committee has conducted a study and given a list of professions where migrant workers are wanted in the country. It reduces the number of jobs open to migrants from one million to 700,000.

"This strict list means 30 per cent fewer jobs are available to migrants via the shortage occupation route. Those that do come will need to work hard, play by the rules and speak English," said British border and immigration minister Liam Byrne said.

This would mean that skilled nurses, engineers, Indian chefs will still be welcome but professionals taking up jobs in the IT industry will find it more difficult to find work and live in Britain.

The new rules outlined for migrant workers are part of the larger overgauling of the entire immigration system in Britain. They are aimed at capping the numbers of immigrants particularly from Asia and Africa, not so much from EU countries.

These new rules will come into force from the end of November and could cut down jobs by as much as 30 per cent. With recession making itself felt in the country, we have heard a lot of rhetoric against immigrants being allowed to work and live in Britain.

This could mean tougher and tougher laws against immigrants in the times to come.
