How long until I can apply?

Post by Evoz » Sun Nov 15, 2020 12:34 am

Hi everyone. I need some help. This all seems confusing.

I currently work for one company and have worked there for 5+yrs part time. I earn £850 per month and am paid every 4 weeks which is 13 times a in a year instead of 12. So basically £11,050 per year.

I got offered another job which pays £20,050 per year and pays weekly. And haven't accepted it yet. Am still thinking but I will be doing 2 jobs then which will give me a yearly income of approx £31,100.

I wanted to ask, could someone tell me. Adding job 1 and job 2 together. How long will it take before I'm entitled to apply for a visa for my spouse?

Thank you

A quick fix will be if you start undertaking excessive work (overtime) at your existing job otherwise you will have to wait for further 6 months to combine the income from Second job under category A unless you have already earned at least £18600 during the last 12 months to apply under category B. Aside above, if you have 6 months of cash savings then can utilize them to cover any scantiness.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Try to wade through the following guidance especially its examples for obtaining the most suitable/alternative option for you:

That doesn't seem right. Why would I still have to wait 6months if I already have a job? Cause wouldn't new job cover any missing money from first job?

I cheked my wages and from 23 October 2019 to 21 October I have been paid 14times and a total wage of £15,816 in past 12 months which averages out at £1,318 per month.

New job pays £20,000 per year which is £1666 per month. That meets requirement of £18600 alone after 6 months...

However..

If I apply for visa in 3 months time. Adding last 12 months income of £15,816 from job 1 + 2 months income from new job £1666 + £1666 = £19148. That's above the £18,600 threshold no? Why would I have to wait 6 months? Couldn't I just have to wait 2 months before I am eligible to apply?

How does it work btw if I get paid every 4 weeks cause I get paid 2 times more a year compared to monthly payslips. So do you just show payslips say between 1 October and 1 April? So if that's 7 payslips you show 7?

All help appreciated.

Yes but under category B because you wouldn't have completed 6 months with new employer for category A. Read the examples in aforementioned guidance.

I'm so confused what you're trying to say.

If I apply solely on cat B wouldn't it be enough under section 1 and 2?

This category requires two different calculations:

Gross annual salary/income at the date of the application

Actual salary/income received in the 12 months prior to the application.

As cat B is if you haven't been working in a job more than 6 months then you have to add actual salary for past 12 months + current salary at time of application. So if I apply in 2 months time. My previous 12months income would be around £19,200 which includes new job and old job.

My current first job, would that be classed at salaried employement or non salaried? Cause I'm contracted to 24hrs a week. Sometimes I just work my contract hours but alot of the time I do more than 24hrs.

Both:
24 hrs= salaried
Overtime= none-salaried
