Being married to a BC she will still need to complete 5 years on the spouse visa route before she can apply for ILR. The only advantage your being BC gives her now is that instead of waiting for1 year after ILR to apply for her own naturalisation and BC, she can do so immediately she gets the ILR.spectra3 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 8:48 amgood day everyone!
my wife is on a spouse visa.
From spouse visa to ILR. how long does it take?
3 or 5 years?
my timeline.
we got married - 2017, i was on tier 2 back then.
on January 2019 my ILR was approved.
my wife applied for spouse visa on November 2019 and was approved. She joined me here in the UK December 2019.
however in November 2020. my ILR status was canceled because my application for citizenship was approved.
my question is. my wife is now married with a British Citizen. When can she apply for an ILR status?
Thank you for reading and for future replies.

Her ILR eligibility date range will be 60months from date of entering UK minus 28days till the last day of her 2nd BRP validity.
Citizenship requirements are completely separate and independent of ilr requirements.Thank you.. this is confusing as the gov.uk site says.
"have lived in the UK for at least 3 years before the date of your application"
ohh.. thank you.. i get it now.. i thought at first you can get ILR in three years if you're married to a BC.CR001 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 11:19 amCitizenship requirements are completely separate and independent of ilr requirements.Thank you.. this is confusing as the gov.uk site says.

Ilr is mandatory for citizenship and ilr under her current visa requires 5 years residence.
On what basis did you apply for ilr? 10 years long residence or 5 years in tier 2??
