Extension of Tier 2 Visa

Post by Berkay » Thu Nov 26, 2020 7:55 pm

My tier 2 visa will expire on 10 Jan 2021. I'm going to extend it before the expiry. My question is that If I get the result of my application (accepted or rejected) after the expiry, what will happen in each case? Thanks

As long as you apply before BRP expiry date you'll be ok even if the approval comes after your current BRP expiry date.

If rejected, you'll likely have admin review option that you can file within couple of weeks. As long as you apply for that you can wait until further decision.
My advice is based on personal research/experience, so pls check relevant UKVI sources.

Thanks, so you mean I don't leave the UK until I get the result. It's such a pity that the priority services are suspended because of the pandemic - I hope they resume soon.

Yes, once you apply for extension you can't leave UK. If you do, then your application will be withdrawn and if your visa expires at that time then you'll be an overstayer.

I got it. Just a quick question, do I need to prove again my knowledge of English language once I'm applying for an extension. I already proved it in my first Tier2 visa, (IELTS, now this test is expired)? It will be so frustrating if they ask again, since currently I have no valid certificate.

No, for extension you don't need to prove your English skills again.

Thanks, I have another question. My expiry time is 10 Jan 2021 - if my application is rejected on 20 Jan 2021, how many days I have to leave the UK?

My question is that if my application is rejected after the expiry, within how many days I must leave the UK?

The answer is within. You'll have 14 days to go for admin review or leave UK legally.
