Sponsoring Spouse from Pakistan

Post by alimasood » Sat Sep 13, 2008 4:41 pm

Hi...

I am looking for some help and wondering if you can offer some guidance.

I am a canadian PR currently living and working in Canada with a good job. I became Canadian PR on May 28th, 2008, and then travelled to Pakistan mid of June to get married. Got married 7th July 2008, and am back in Toronto now since August 25th 2008.

I am now seeking to sponsor my wife to Canada - & did some homework on it - and really want to apply asap. It sounds fairly simple, but we just learned that my wife is pregnant with our first child and is in her 6th week now. Now my predicament is how to get her to Canada at the earliest so that our baby gets delivered here only.

I reckon it is taking 44 days for part-1 of the application to get processed in Missisagua and then takes any where from between 6-9 months for part-2 of the application in Islamabad. That pretty much coincides with the baby delivery time.

I have been doing some research online and learned of "dual intention" ? I want to know if my wife can first apply for a Canadian visit visa in Pakistan and only once shes filed that application, I should file her sponsorship case here? To me, it is important that the baby gets delivered in Canada else we will just have to make her wait in Pakistan for over a year and re-apply with baby being a part of the new application?

So my questions are:

1. Whats the best way of dealing with this situation? Should my wife apply a visit visa for canada before i file her sponsorship application?
2. Is this a "out of canada" class application?
3. Dual Intent? Can she and should she mention on her visit visa application that she is also going to be sponsored by me in the long run?

I am really hopeful that you guide us here? thanks in advance.

Ali.

A; Apply for her sponsorship ASAP. You can request the visitor visa later on
2. Is this a "out of canada" class application?

A; Outside Canada Spouse Sponsorship

3. Dual Intent? Can she and should she mention on her visit visa application that she is also going to be sponsored by me in the long run?

See answer to 1
