Help!!! Received shorter period visa for Tire 2 General extension

Post by Okay1678YT » Sun Dec 06, 2020 5:33 pm

Hi folks,

I initially had a 1-year Tire 2 General visa. After my company extended my CoS for 3 more years, I recently applied for an extension. After receiving the new BRP, I found that I've received only 2 years of extension whereas my new CoS expires after 3 years.
After extensive search on the immigration boards portal(thanks to you guys :D ), I found the only post which talks about "Up to 3 years" or "more than 3 years" category selection when applying for a T2G visa extension. I have applied for an "Up to 3 years" extension based on the fact that my new CoS is renewed for another 3 years. If this causes the problem, is there any way I can ask UKVI for reconsideration and give me a visa for the appropriate length?
Or I can apply for another extension after my visa near to end for another time. As per today's situation, my company is willing to give me a visa till I get settled here in the UK. I hope this will not cause any problem when I apply for the ILR.

Thanks.

You can only get maximum of 6 years in total on Tier 2 visa, so it looks right, i.e. 1 year + 3 years + 2 years visa now, so in total 6 years.

If that's not the case then you need to list the exact dates on your BRP start/expiry dates of all Tier 2 applications then we can advice accordingly.
My advice is based on personal research/experience, so pls check relevant UKVI sources.

Hi, Thanks for the quick reply.

My BRP dates as below:

1. 5 Jan 2019 till 13 Jan 2021 (against an initial 1-year CoS expires on 31st Dec 2020)
2. 5 Jan 2021 till 13 Jan 2023 ( against 3-year CoS expires on 31st Dec 2023)

If you notice my 3-year CoS is expiring on 31st Dec 2023 so I am expecting my visa till that date or till 13 Jan 2024. Whereas I received a visa till 13 Jan 2023 ( a year shorter).

I don't understand why I've received a shorter visa than my CoS? There could be two scenarios, this can be a mistake by the Home office people due to dates, if so, how I can correct it? or may some rule which I am not aware of.

I appreciate your guidance on this.

Thanks!

What about IHS? How much did you pay or was requested at the time of submitting your application?

Your approval letter should have instructions on how to report errors, especially if the dates are wrong, so you could report it. If not, you can always extend nearer to the time of visa expiry date as a normal extension.

You have to extend one more time anyway to reach 5 years for ILR, so if fee matches your current visa duration then less hassle to leave as is for now I guess.
My advice is based on personal research/experience, so pls check relevant UKVI sources.
