Is English Language proficiency certificate required for Tier 2 dependant visa? Even when not a required document?

Hi,

So I have applied for my wife to join me as a Tier 2 dependant visa. I have submitted the application and the normal spouse visa required documents but reading this forum and other threads I see that spouse visa's are being refused because IELTS certificate was not provided.

Is that a required document? It was not mentioned to me at any stage during the application process.

My wife can speak fluent English and has a Masters degree in an English taught course (but reading online I read that even this degree needs to be verified)

I'm not very sure about the English requirement for my wife's visa. Can anyone shed some light on this please. Will her visa be refused if we do not provide any English or IELTS related document?

There is NO English test requirment for PBS dependent visas.

Useful not to assume all "spouse visas" have this requirment and not read about visa categories you are not applying for!!
