Asylum seekers and refugees-permission to work.

Post by elsaundersx » Fri Dec 18, 2020 8:38 pm

So it seems like if an asylum seeker was waiting 12 months for a decision they can apply for permission to work and if granted that, they can only work certain jobs-jobs which tend to be high skilled- like doctor, engineer, etc. so in reality most asylum seekers still won’t be able to work.

However reading on citizens advice bureau, it seems like if a asylum seeker has been granted refugee status and is also granted permission to work, they can work any job at any skill level.

is this true?

and why the difference, if anyone here knows.

Hi, My knowledge about the "SOL" meaning Shortage of Labour if you are highly skilled. but in terms of Refugee status you can use it for any job and don't think restriction on the" RS"; just base on employer if they will accept it.
