Hi everyone,

I am applying for naturalisation as an EEA citizen. I've been in the UK since 2011, I have PR since 2016 and now also have settled status.

Since my PR application was for 2011-2016 and my naturalisation application would be focusing on 2015-2020, should I provide the exact same documents I provided for my PR application but for 2015-2020, or is it just a matter of proving that I lived in the UK during 2015-2020?

Many thanks for your help

You provide documents to cover the five years back from the naturalisation application date.
Documents as per the guidance, such a P60s or employer letters - the requirements are different from EEA applications.
Guidance: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... n-guidance

Dear all,

I am currently completing the online naturalisation form and have a couple of questions I was hoping you can help me with:

1. Authority on Russian passport written in cyrillic only - on my Russian passport, the issuing authority is written in cyrillic only (МИД России 44201) with no English translation like it's done for the other fields. Do I add it in cyrillic in the form, or do I have to translate myself (e.g. MID Rossii 44201). That is not an authorised translation though and may confuse the person reading if they dont know the cyrillic alphabet

2. Date when you first arrived in the UK - Should I enter 2008, the date when I arrived to study in a UK university, or a more recent date? My qualifying period has started much after 2008, and I had some long summer absenses. The form says to enter the date when I arrived with an intention to stay, but that is not something I can specifically pinpoint. Any advice?

3. Biometrics - as a Bulgarian/russian dual citizen, what should I tick for the biometric residence permit question? I dont believe it's something I've done before as I use my BG passport for all travels - I assume I need to select "No, I do not have a BRP for my most recent leave" and "Do you have a BRP from a previous stay in the UK? - No"?

4. Referee form - can you please confirm that this is the form my referees need to complete? I understand that form is provided to the applicant only after the application is submitted, after which they cannot be changed - I assume I can also request them to complete it before I have submitted and paid, so I can be sure there will be no hiccups after and I have all I need before the payment? Also again, another question that I see has been asked multiple times but I still dont understand - if it's only the scanned copies of the referee forms being sent, why do we need to write our name on the back of the photos and stick them - what I am missing here? This wont be visisble in a pdf document.

5. Previous Passports - do I need to provide all previous passports for the full 5 year period? Bulgaria does not give back expired passports so that would prove impossible - is it a requirement?

Thank you very much in advance!

Suggest you use your translation - UKVI & HMPO should be quite familiar with what passports from around the world look like.

Any advice?
The next date you entered the UK? Alternatively use 2008 - it should not make a difference.

- No"?
Correct

4. Referee form - can you please confirm that this is the form my referees need to complete? Probably a hangover from the paper submission process (I went through) - photos can get detached in transit.

5. Previous Passports - do I need to provide all previous passports for the full 5 year period? Bulgaria does not give back expired passports so that would prove impossible - is it a requirement?
Only your current passport required if applying as an EU citizen (applicants with UK ILR get their passports stamped and provide alll covering the residemncy period.

Thank you very much in advance!

Hi all, I submitted my online application and now need to keep an eye out for available UKVCAS appointments.

My question is - if i quit my current job and be unemployed, will this impact negatively on my Citizenship application? Would I need to inform them of this employment change, if I leave the job, as in application I've entered as "currently employed"?

thanks

It won't impact your application. You are not required to advise employment changes post application date.
Note that employment is not mandatory for naturalisation..

Hi. I am stuck on good character section. I have two parking tickets (around 4 years ago), and a 'Seizure information notice' from Border Force. Basically I was trying to bring to UK too many cigarettes and Border Force didn't trust me its for my mothers use. It was 4000 cigarettes, 4 years ago.
Should I include the information about seizure in the online form?

2. About work history
Sadly I don't have all details were I worked and how long for ? what can I do ? Give as much detail as you can - estimated dates (month/year) are ok. Explain in a note and upload with your other documents. You may be able to obtain your employment history from HMRC, probably going back for about five years, however that may take a while to arrange. You will be ok with some estimates.

If you hold UK ILR you normally would provide your passport(s) for the residency period which show stamps in/out to prove residency - you are not required to prove specific addresses. In your case I assume you submit your Travel Document - presumably it shows entry stamps.

Hi
I came to the UK on student visa and then applied for asylum, now it's about 12 months after my ILR and I'm applying for naturalisation.
I have 2 Qs regarding the previous immigration applications, Do the applications for Travel document count?
Aslo. in my previous application for Travel document I forgot to include an application I made 10 years ago and I had no issue, should I include it in the naturalisation?
I appreciate your help.

Hi,

I had given two referees, one is IT Project Manager and the other is Professional Teacher. I just found out that one of the referees need to be an Accountant or Solicitor or someone who belongs to a professional body.

My appointment is on Mon, 21/12 and I can get a reference from an Accountant, so my question is whether I should submit the two references or get a 3rd reference from the Accountant as well and submit it. Obviously I had already put two referee names in my application, so can't change them.

Many thanks

Teacher is fine, if a registered teacher.

Hi,

i have both a permanent residence card and an eu settlement scheme. When filling in the british citizenship form, which one should i put under:

what will you use to apply for a British Citizenship?

Permanent residence card or indefinite leave to remain

I'm asking this because i believe the permanent residence card will expire on the 31st of December, and i'm planning to send my application off in January

Presumably you mean Settled Status - if you have held it for 12 months you can use that.

*REFEREES INQUIRY*
I am posting in this thread as I didn’t want to open a new one for a possibly the same question which had been posted already.

I’m planning to apply for a British citizenship and I’d like to confirm whether my referees are suitable for the application. One of them is a director of engineering with BEng (HONS) AMIMechE another one is a director of a company (I’m assuming a vat registered one) as he runs a car dealership business.
On the professional standing list there’s one for “Engineer (with professional
qualifications)” and “ Director/Manager/Personnel
Officer of a VAT registered Company”. Of course I’m going to ask one of them to act as my professional referee.
Would they qualify for that?
Thanks.
