Hi All,
I'm due to submit my ILR application on 2nd week of January.
I understand we should declare any criminal offence in the application. I was questioned by the major crime unit and even took DNA samples from me to narrow down the culprit. (PC said they taking DNA samples from all peoples in my area)
After DNA samples given, no one turned back and silent for almost a year now. should I declare this in application or write down separate cover letter to cover this?
Please advice me.
Many thanks in advance to all

That you gave DNA sample is NOT a criminal offence that needs declaring. You were not arrested and prosecuted for anything, no further action from the law men. So what would you be declaring? Ksg2019, there is Nothing to declare.

Amazonian X,
Since my name was in the police inquiry book, I thought that should be declared. But, as you advised I'll go head and submit the application by filling NO in the criminal section.
thanks for clearing my confusion.
Cheers

You are welcome, inquiry and criminal culpability very far apart.

Were you arrested? Or you were a suspect but they did not have enough evidence to arrest you and asked to provide DNA sample voluntarily? Is the investigation ongoing? Are you amongst the suspects or police has cleared your name?

CULLINAN,
No, I'm not arrested on this case. PC said they asking every man in the vicinity area to narrow down the suspect. since I stayed in that apartment at the time of the incident they asked me to provide a DNA sample voluntarily. I gave a DNA sample last May 2019 and PC said they won't contact me if there is no issue. as said they never contacted me after that point.
Please advise

Thanks, CULLINAN
As a benefit of the doubt, can I obtain a DBS check?
