Work Permit Vs Visa Clarity

Hi,

My wife has Skilled Worker Visa and I got defendant Visa. I am currently in India and we plan to travel in March. I am getting a work assignment through my India employer. But HR mentioned I need to apply for work permit. I need some clarity regarding this -

1. Do I need new work permit? Is it new CoS from my employer?
2. I do not wish to change my Visa category. Will new work permit impact my Visa?
3. Should I apply from India or first travel to UK and then apply from there?

1. No need to change, you can work on your dependent visa

2. Yes, a skilled worker visa application will cancel your dependent visa.

3. You don't need another visa. You can work in the UK on your dependent visa for any employer.
