Letting agency insists on having credit check for an accommodation letter for my wife who has no visa yet

Post by datapy » Thu Feb 11, 2021 5:17 pm

My tenancy agreement starts at the end of the month and my family is applying for a visa next week. I have asked the letting agent to provide me a letter to say that they endorse my wife and two kids to live with me. However, the letting agent insists on my wife to pass a reference check for them simply provide a letter. I have explain my wife does not need to be on the tenancy agreement as she is not in the country yet, but they insist that it's the law. She will fail the credit check for sure as she has no right to be in this country yet (in the process of applying for a visa). If Home Office requires a letter from the letting agency and Home Office requires a letter from the agency - it's an endless loop!

What are my options if the letting agent does not want to include my wife's name in the letter, can they simply say that it's a 3 bedroom house exclusively rented by me?

Thanks!

Hello

She is not going fail the credit check but no score or history will be returned which is what we can expect for someone who didn't set a foot in the UK yet. Even when someone moves to the UK, it takes months for financial information to start showing up.

Anything you ask these agencies will invariable trigger checks and paperwork in order for them to bill these to the landlord.
