SET (M)

Post by Marahn » Sat Feb 13, 2021 4:12 pm

Dear Moderators,
This is a question regarding something that happened after the application.
My friend's wife's SET (M) application is still in HO for the process, applied and submitted on 02/11/2020 via online service, and all documents and biometric have been submitted.
He is British and both kids also British. for the wife, he showed 18600 income.

Now yesterday the bank has closed both of his bank accounts one is his own one and the other one is a joint account on both of their name (Hus-Wife).

These are the two accounts he showed the proof of his self-employed income (12 months) and proof for his continued self-employed income (3 months). Now it's all been closed by the bank for unknown reasons and when he talked to them they said to wait for a letter to come through the post.

I helped him to process the application and don't know what is going to happen now.
please advise us the what to do in this case in your expert's experience as you experts faced many of this type of query and solution please help us.
Thank you for your time and help

The main concern would be if UKVI did a DVR with the bank and found out the bank account is closed, it could potentially put the application at risk and if that's not the case, application is likely to be granted.

You definitely need to find out from the bank the reason behind closing the account unless there's a suspected activity such as fraud??
My opinions should not be constituted as an immigration or legal advice.

There isn't anything on CIFAS, is there? What was the reason they opted to close the accounts?

If they refuse to say, try and do a SAR with CIFAS, as CIFAS markers can cause accounts to be closed.
