Tier2 General Visa extension

I am working as a Research associate (Postdoc) in University rom Past 3 years on Tier2 General Visa and my Visa is about to expire in September. My Employer could not able to extend the contract. I have PhD degree with more than 25 Academic publications.Is there any way I could apply for extension under Global Talent Visa? or any other way I can extend visa that can help towards ILR ? Please do suggest any other alternative visa to continue working in UK.

You can easily apply for the Global talent visa. If you do it before your postdoc ends, the chances will be very high to get it. You should follow the academic path.

I wonder if I switch from Tier2 (General) to Global talent Visa, will this add up to my previous years of stay? for applying ILR ?
