Switch from 10 year to 5 year partner route

Post by Tabz72 » Sun Mar 14, 2021 5:53 pm

Hi,

I’m sorry to ask this but I just want to confirm, my wife was given leave to remain on the 10 year route and will be applying for the 1st extension next month. An would like advice on the below please.

1. I want to switch to the 5 year route as I meet the requirements, Does my wife apply for FLR FP or FLR M?

2.The application asks about my children’s details (both are British) but both their passports have expired. Do I need to renew them as I can’t enter an expired date on the online application.

Thanks

If you meet the requirement for the five year route, it is the FLR(M) application form.

Keep in mind that the five years start from the date of grant of her subsequent FLR(M) and any previous period in the UK under other visas will not count towards the five year requirement.

Thank you for the reply.

What about the passports for my children, would I have to renew them?

Thanks

I don't think so, assuming that you are not planning to travel abroad with the children. But wait for others to advise further.

No, I’m not thinking of traveling but the GOV.UK online application won’t let me proceed without entering an expiry date in the future which I found surprising.

Thank you for replying and I will wait for other to respond

01/01/1900 just to let you go forward otherwise you will be stuck then explain in a cover letter that their passport has expired?
