EUSS FP for Parents

Post by Jolz369 » Tue Mar 16, 2021 11:05 pm

Hi,

We've read a number of threads on this site, but we still need to clarify a few questions, can someone advise, please?

My wife is an EU citizen with Pre-Settled status (she will qualify for settled status in 2 weeks). I am non-EU (New Zealand) citizen, I have been granted Pre-Settled status based on our relationship. We got married in summer 2020 (this appears to be a key criteria).

We want to bring my parents to UK to live with us and we plan to do that through the EUSS Family Permit and then apply for Pre-Settled status for them. We will be filling the application on their behalf.
My parents are currently not in the UK, they are both New Zealand citizens. They will be applying for EUSS FP as close family members of my wife and if/once they get their permit granted, we will bring them to the UK to apply for Pre-Settled status.

The questions we have about the process:
1. Should we wait until the wife gets her Settled status or should we apply for the EUSS FP now? If we apply now, should the wife wait with her settled status application until the EUSS FP is resolved?
2. Do we have to put in the proof of financial dependency or is this still assumed? Based on what we’ve read on the board, we do not need to – just checking if this has changed in 2021
3. Do we need to apply and get the decision for the EUSS FP by 30th June 2021?
4. What is the deadline for my parents to come to the UK and apply for Pre-Settled status once they get the EUSS FP granted? (We know they have to apply for Pre-Settled status within 3 months of receiving the FP, is there any other deadline that we need to be aware of?)
5. Do we need to complete two separate applications for both of my parents? If yes, do we need to or how do we link them together?

Many thanks for your help!

Hi, you can't link both applications need to apply separately...
Don't need to wait till settled status
Depending assumed only on EUSS FP
IMPORTANT DOC SPONSOR BIRTH CIRTIFICATE AND SPONSOR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE if applying for IN LAWs
Dependency assumed don't need to send them proof but dependency must be exists just home office don't need see any proof 😊best of luck

Proof of dependency mandatory in document checklist for parents

Post by Jolz369 » Mon Mar 22, 2021 10:29 pm

Hi, I was wondering if anyone encountered the same error. We are applying for EUSS FP for my parents through my EEA wife (who has a pre-settled status), but we can’t get past the document checklist.

We filled in the application, but we cannot get through the checklist without ticking the “Proof Of Dependency” documents. The dependency is supposed to be assumed and the proof of dependency should be optional - as per the gov.uk site - (it even appears in optional section of the checklist), but if I only tick the tickboxes for mandatory documents and leave the proof of dependency unticked (which are duplicated), I cannot proceed to the next step with the application and I get the error message - see below screenshot.

I called the Visas and Immigration contact line this morning, but they said it shouldn’t work like that… any advice of what we can do? This is occurring on both my parents’ applications. I am afraid if we tick the tickbox and not provide proof (as this is assumed), we will be rejected even though this is clearly a bug with the online application.

Just tick and don’t need to send them a proof of dependency because it’s assumed till 30 June 2021 same question again 😺
