EC still required ?

the vfs office in mumbai have informed me that an Entry clearance is no more required for applicants in india... is this true ? pls help ! what is the procedure for applying for an EC, how long does it take & what docs are required ?

Hi,

Now the HO directly issues a entry clearance visa instead of a letter. This visa will have all the relevant details on it (like Tier 1, etc). Once you get this visa, it is equivalent to travel permit. The VFS officer here in mumbai said that I do not require any letter. With this entry clearance visa I can directly travel to the UK

Tier-1 is a single stage process as against the HSMP which had 2 stages (1) HSMP Approval (2) EC

As for Documents etc. it will be useful if you look for relevant threads here on the forum and download guidelines from BIA website
