British Registration - For Children

Post by ILR-1982 » Mon Mar 22, 2021 11:28 am

Dear Sir/Madam,

My husband has got his Indefinite Leave to Remain in June 2020.
I got my Indefinite Leave to remain together with my 2 children (they are both 6 and 8 years old respectively) in March 2021. Both of my children born in Malaysia.
I intend to register both of children as British after 12 months time.
Please could you advise if they are eligible to do so and both of myself and my husband remain the status of Indefinite Leave to Remain?
Thanks for your advise.

No they cannot apply for citizenship if neither parent is applying.

Children born abroad can only apply while under 18 if at least one parent is applying at the same time or is already British and the other parent holds ilr.
