I just feel that we're at the mercy of some anonymous immigration officer, who sits behind a desk somewhere, flippantly making decisions which greatly affect the lives of normal people. "I'm having a bad day, so I'll reject this one" is pretty much how it seems to work. I also thinks it's true they have quotas to meet and immigration is a political football which gets knocked back and forth by politicians looking for votes.

To be honest, the policies of this country are making me miserable ,and if i dont get my PR ,they could destroy me completely. So I really feel like sticking two fingers up to Britain and leaving for good.

All decsions to refuse entry are authorised by a chief immigration officer and have to be reasonable and defensible. I can state categorically there are no, and never have been, quotas to meet.

I can see why you would feel that way. The way the UKBA is designed, it is very far away from the applicants. A local office (as in most other countries) can give you a much more personable feeling. However, the consistency of decisions should actually be better in a central office.

I am sure that they monitor the results closely, but I cannot imagine that they have quotas. The political game is unfortunately correct. It seems like the Minister of State can pretty much do as he pleases, and there is very little external oversight. The handling of complaints is certainly completely ridiculous.

Indeed. For a country that tries to attract migrants to help the economy, the process is very daunting. That is not to say that other countries are necessarily better, but there is certainly a lot of room for improvement.

That being said, you are here under European law, and I think that is one of the easiest options. Yes, the administration is not working well at the moment, but the legal situation is very favourable. Other categories have a much more difficult time.

I thought I was clear but of course if you are referring to UKBA caseworkers in Croydon or wherever I wouldn't be able to comment.
