NON-EU buying an apartment in UK + Long term Visit Visa

Post by Nash009 » Mon Mar 29, 2021 9:43 am

I lived in the UK between 2010 and 2014 as a NON-EU immigrant. After that I moved to Germany where I am now settled with a permanent residency but still a NON-EU passport. I wish to buy an apartment in the UK for investment purposes. I don't intend to live or settle in the UK. Is it possible for me as a NON-EU person (living in Europe) to buy an apartment in the UK ?

Secondly, I would like to apply a 10 year visit visa after the apartment purchase because maybe I need to travel once or twice each year to maintain the property. But I am wondering if it sounds reasonable to the authorities to grant me a long tern visit visa. Any thoughts ?

If you need a mortgage then you will need to use a broker and will likely have a higher interest reate.

If you are planning on becoming a landlord? use a Letting Agent.
-Tenants who have an overseas landlord who doesn't use a Letting Agent and who have not been told by HMTC in writing that they don't have to deduct your taxes from the rent, are responsinle for paying your UK rental taxes to HNRC from their rent. They have a lot of work to do and can deduct their time too I believe. It might put some tenants off.

-There are strict laws that you must comply with to be a landlord.
