ILR - T2G - queries

Post by Ash10 » Sat Mar 27, 2021 10:51 am

Hello All.
Hope you are doing well and keeping safe.
I intend to apply for ILR after completing 5 year under Tier 2 G route. Grateful if someone can advice if I am making any mistake regarding below:
1. 1st visa issued on 04.05.2016 (1st BRP issue date is also same).
1st arrived in UK to collect BRP on 25.05.2016
So, my 5 year anniversary will be on 04.05.2021.
Earliest I can apply is no more than 28 days before i.e. on or after 06.04.2021.

2. I left UK after collecting BRP on 28.05.2016 to give notice with my existing employer and organise my move.
Returned to UK on 30.07.2016.
Joined the company on 01.08.2016.
In the application form, I am showing the reason of this leave as personal.

3. For above absence, I do not intend to provide any cover letter unless asked by Home Office.
I will submit absence letter from 01.08.2016 till date issued by the company.

4. Under "have you previously lived in a country outside the UK" I intend to show that I lived in Singapore till 30.07.2016 and reason is "Work".
As my visa was issued on 04.05.2016 and I first entered the UK on 25.05.2016, does anyone think this may cause any issue?

Or should I show
- Lived in Singapore till 24.05.2016
- Reason for visiting the country again from 28.06.2016 to 30.07.2016 was personal.
But my personal tax statement would show that I worked till 30.07.2016

5. I am not applying for my dependents as they have not completed the 5 year period. I do not intend to provide any cover letter as Home Office would know their history.

6. I received a litter FPN in 2017 and declaring same in the application. Declared same during visa extension as well. My understanding is that this does not have any bearing on my ILR.

Thank you for taking the time in reading such a long post. Much appreciated.

You are on the right track. There is no need to provide any documents related to work in Singapore.

Hello Gurus.
Thank you for your guidance. I submitted my application today and booked an UKVCAS appointment.

I have couple of questions:
1. Is there anyways to check available appointment dates without cancelling my current appointment booking? I can't see any more dates without cancelling.

2. While calculating my dependents earliest date to apply ILR, got a bit confused. Below are their timeline:
Vignette issue date 01.09.2016 and valid for 1 month.
UKVI letter also states same dates.
1st BRP issue date 15.08.2016
According to UKVI customer service, I should calculate the date from UKVI letter. I appreciate that this is outsourced to 3rd party and not always correct.
My understanding is that I should calculate the 5 year qualifying period from the 1st BRP issue date and not the visa vignette issue date.
Grateful if any Guru can confirm that I am correct. Also is there any reason for dependents BRP issue date 15 days earlier than vignette issue date.

I checked with one of my colleague and his dependents BRP also issued 15 days earlier than vignette issue date. Intrigued to know if there is any particular reason for this.

Many thanks for your time.

1) This is UKVCAS related. Contact them if need more info
2) You should use the earliest date, the BRP date is fine

Re: ILR - PBS dependent

Hello all. Thank you all for the guidance provided. I received my ILR in April and now in the process of applying ILR for my wife and kids.
I understand that I can apply for British citizenship 1 year after obtaing my ILR provided I fulfill all the requirements.
Do my dependents need to have ILR for 1 year to become eligible for British Citizenship application or can they apply together with me though they would hold ILR (hopefully their application is successful) for less than a year? I would be grateful if you could provide link to the Home Office guidance.

Aks your British citizenship queries in the relevant subforum. :!:
For your family to benefit from that, you must be first granted citizenship (you must attend your ceremony) first before your family applies.
