Travelling for medical reason while ILR application pending

Hi All,
Does anyone know if there are any exceptions that allow travel outside of the UK while your ILR is pending? My mother has been diagnosed with colon cancer and I need to travel to be able to provide support to her during her treatments.
Any help appreciated.

If you leave the UK your application will be considered withdrawn and you lose your fee.

You could ask them to expedite the application if you submit medical evidence or ask your MP yo help. No guarantee though.
