Urgent!! How will the skilled job list affect Tier1

Hi Friends,

I had read a lot about the upcoming "skilled job list" for UK and that IT is not a part of it.

How will it affect Tier1 General Immigrant category? I mean if I have to apply after November 1st do I need my occupation to be on that list?

Please guide me with this.

Hi Vijay Kumar,

Hope you are aware of the shortage skills list which will be published soon. I have read on BIA website that its going to be applicable for the Tier2 which will replace the Work Permits in November.
But yesterday I got a mail from one Umbrella Company that it can affect the Tier1. Well I couldn't find anything on the BIA website though but was concerned that being in IT will it be a good decision to wait till December to apply for Tier1 or apply now.

As I recall, the material you are talking about relates to the upcoming Tier 2 visa, not Tier 1. Tier 2 will replace the current Work Permit system (ie. the visa you can get if you are not considered highly skilled). As such, the new rules should not affect Tier 1 applicants in any way.

The list you mentioned is more on Tier 2 applicants (the former Work Permit system). Nothing to do with Tier 1 (a.k.a. formerly as HSMP but with a twist)

Seems good for IT professionals, who are eligible for Tier1-general (hsmp). So the employers will have to search for IT professionals within Uk rather than hiring people from outside UK on workpermits.

But on the other hand this can also be an indication of saturation in IT and new comers may face problems getting IT jobs quickly.
