“Your case is not straightforward” email

Post by FrMatthewHomes » Fri Apr 30, 2021 4:34 pm

Hello all,

We are a family of 7 trying to immigrate to the UK.
When I submitted all the applications and booked biometrics appointments (with the USCIS) they would only let me book one per day and the closest location was 3 hours away.

We went to my appointment first, then my wife’s the next day, and one of my kids’ the third day. At that point the employees there suggested we just do all the kids’ appointments then and there so we wouldn’t have to drive so much every day for a week. I said I wasn’t sure if we could do that since the kids’ appointments were on different days (and two of them were for different locations also 3 hours away in a different direction) she then checked with her supervisor and said it would be fine. So we proceed with doing all the kid’s biometrics on that day and mailing them in.

My wife and I have gotten our visas back approved, so yay there. But this morning I’ve got emails for the 4 kids who did their biometrics on the incorrect day saying “your case is not straightforward”... the one thing I was worried about.

Should we be worried? Will they deny the children visas because we went to biometrics on a different day than the scheduled appointment?

Is there anyone we can reach out to, to ask why there is a delay, or to see if that’s what the actual issue is?

Thank you in advance!

I would not worry about that. That is a fairly standard letter issued, normally just before six months of the date of application, which is the theoretical standard that the Home Office has set for itself.

Unlikely. I am assuming that all children are under the age of 18.

With the UKV&I, an application takes as long as it takes. And there is generally no way to contact the caseworker working on your or your children's applications.

Keep in mind that it is perfectly possible for the applications to be assigned not only to different caseworkers, but also to different offices.

Thank you for the info!

Yes all children are under 18

It’s just a bit frustrating is all, especially since my wife and my applications were decided super fast, like 1 day after acceptance.

I didn’t know they could go to different offices since we mailed everything to the same office in New York, but that’s good to know

And yes of course, prayer is our first resort but we were not sure if there was much we should be doing “earthly”

Thank you again for your help!

Just to clarify, we are applying for our visas for the first time from outside the UK. So based on my understating it’s 3 weeks standard, but we paid for priority processing so 5 days for a decision. Got the not straight forward email 1 day after they received the applications for the children. Does that make any differences?
