Further leave to remain and marriage/passport query

Hi there,
My fiancee is here with me now in the UK on a fiancee visa and we are about to get married in a months time and therefore she will use my name from then on. Afterwards of course we will apply for Further Leave to Remain and I was wondering with the name change how this will affect things. My fiancee has contaced the embassy of her country here in the UK and they have said..or recommended at least..that she should get a new passport first with her new name before applying for the Further Leave to Remain. I am just looking for advice on this as regards what is the normal thing to do and if anyone else has any experience of this. I look forward to any replies...thanks in anticipation.
