a friend of mine asked me a question '' do I have to provide a screen shot of our chats between myself and my wife?'' I said yes You do at least 10 screen shots a month as they only married for a year and they have not lived together, then he told me my solicitor said from now on home office don't need chats as relationship proof. so my question is there any truth in that as of today? thanks guys.

Not sure if its changed, but I applied for mine last jan/feb and was granted within 2-3 weeks. I didn't give whatsapp chat despite plenty of people saying I needed to, as I was told they aren't an independent source of proving a subsisting relationship. They can be used to backup your case if you appeal etc, but don't count for much by themselves. As I say, wasn't a problem for me over a year ago, may have changed now.

The UKVI still requires people to proof evidence of genuine and subsisting relationship. Some couples have lived together for many years thus having stronger proof together others. Some sponsor and applicants are in a long distance relationship and they communicate via whatsapp, skype etc so these evidence of communication are something shows ongoing genuine and subsisting relationship so therefore must be provided in supports of their application.

When it comes to the application, there are areas that would be better addressed by HO on specified evidence. What worked for U may not work for V and remember the burden of proof is on applicant.
