Settlement scheme for EU mother in law!

Hello,

I've looked through the board and can't see anything similar to the info I'm after, so I'm sorry if this has already been raised.

My wife is Argentinian and has two years to go until IDL, I'm a UK citizen and my wifes mother is a Spanish citizen, (My wife doesn't have spanish citizenship or the ability to claim citizenship). We have a child due in a month, our first, and my wife would like her mother to move here permanently and work if possible

I have had a look and noticed there is a Pre-Settlement scheme which ends in a few days as well as Eu settlement scheme family permit. There is a lot of info on the internet but without trawling through massive amounts of documents, could anyone advise on what route is best to apply? We'd like her to move with in the next few months if possible.

If mother in law arrived in the UK before 31.12.2020, as a Spanish citizen, she could have applied for pre-settled status in her own right.
Only EU citizens can sponsor close family members, using the EUSS Family Permit for entering the UK. British or other non-EU citizens need to use a UK Visa route. Perhaps this link might help: https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa
