Applying for spouse visa before ceremony

Post by angelist2 » Wed Jun 30, 2021 4:22 pm

Hello all, I have entered the UK last year around September under fiance visa. Since we could not book the ceremony right away because of covid19, I had to email HO and ask for an extension for my stay (which I was granted 3 times). We finally managed to book the ceremony at september 7th this year and my last extension for my stay expires at 10th of September.

Is it possible for us to apply for Spouse Visa now that we have booked our ceremony? We had a lawyer telling us we can do it now but we are not sure.

Due to COVID, they have been granting some visas even without actually getting married! I saw some people on the Facebook forums granted visas without getting married but caseworker enquiry about it but was unable to due to restrictions with booking for ceremony. In your case, I would recommend you to apply once both of you are married and you can start filling your application online now to prepare ahead. Once you are married, submit snd pay for your application.
My opinions should not be constituted as an immigration or legal advice.

You have 3 days between the ceremony and expiration of your current leave. This is sufficient for you to submit if you fill up your application now and once ceremony done submit. It will still be in time application and your biometrics can hold even after expiration of current fiance visa.
