My husband was previously on a student visa and received his ILR, which supervised his student visa. However, my son and I are still on a student dependant visa. Now, he is withdrawing from the course so that the University will trigger the cancellation of his student visa.
Can I still live on the student dependent visa until expiry, or it is mandatory to apply for ILR dependent?
Your husband does not have a student visa anymore and any action taken by the university is irrelevant now. If your husband got ILR under the long residence then you are
expected to switch to the family route as UKVI may curtail your current visa. They also may refuse re-entry to the UK if you travel. Your current visa remains valid
unless it is curtailed but you are advised to switch as soon as you can to be safe.
If you want to apply for ILR under long residence yourself very soon and before your visa expiry, you may choose not to switch at all and apply straight for ILR.
