Post by pranothe » Sun Jul 11, 2021 9:43 am

Hello

If I have another child while on FLR FP leave to remain would that child be automatically get British citizenship or do I have to apply for leave to remain for the child as well. If so what type of visa do I apply for the child and at what age?

Regards

Depends what the nationality and immigration status of the other parent is??

Simply being born in the UK to parents with limited leave doesn't make a child British.

Both parents are Non EEA (Nigerian) Came here on a student visa 12 years ago and both got FLR FP leave to remain parent route with our 8 year old British born child.

We’re hoping to apply for British passport for our 8 year old when she’s 10. But as we’re expecting another baby in few months now we are not sure what status our newborn would be.

I need clarification on what to do once baby’s born. When and what to apply for.

Thanks

You need to apply for a FLR fp visa for the baby.

The baby only gets 3 months free nhs and after that you could be charged 150% nhs cost, so plan accordingly.

How does that work? I don’t think I can get a passport for 3 months old to apply for the visa or is it possible to apply without a passport for the baby?

The Nigerian High Commission website and the Nigerian Passport portal allow you to apply for a child passport. It does not state any age restriction for children applying.

You may have to take the child to the High Commission in person.
12. Is it compulsory I bring my baby to the High Commission for his/her passport?
Yes, because no passport is processed by proxy;
