Applying for a spouse/fiance visa while studying outside the UK

Post by mk98 » Mon Aug 09, 2021 5:30 pm

Hi,

I have graduated in the United Kingdom and I have been under a tier 4 visa for the past 5 years. I recently got a job offer outside the UK (in a Schengen country) to do a funded PhD. My partner is a UK national and works in London. I want to apply for a fiancé visa and then request a spouse visa and I would like to know whether it would be okay considering I will be registered as a student and an employee outside the UK. I have spoken to my supervisor who agreed to have our supervision meetings online, so I will only have to be at the University to attend some seminars which represents about 25 days a year. Will I be able to apply for a fiancé visa or will my being registered in a foreign university shed doubt on my intended residence in the UK?

Thanks in advance for you advice.
