Second or Extended Visitor Visa

Hi!

I am a UK citizen and I have recently returned to the UK with my Colombian husband and our son who has dual citizenship. My husband is on a 6 month visitor visa which will expire in December. We are waiting to migrate to Australia but due to current restrictions it is not yet possible. So, he may want to stay in the UK for longer.

We cannot apply for a partner visa as I have not been earning over £18000 for 6 months. I understand that he can only visit for 6 months at a time but is it possible for him to leave the UK and then apply for another visitor visa? Or does he have to wait a certain period of time before he applies or reenters.

Any advice much appreciated.
