Uk spouse visa and quarantine requirements.

Hi my husband has been approved for uk spouse visa he currently lives in Turkey which is a red zone for quarantine requirement, before he travels to the uk he wants to visit his family for a week or 2 in his home country which is also a red zone country. My question is can he travel to his home country before he makes his way to the uk, and will he have to do the 2 week hotel quarantine when he arrives in the uk at a hotel because he travelled to his home country which is also a red zone.

He can travel wherever he wants to before coming to the UK. What he does before arriving is irrelevant to the UK.

He will have to quarantine in a hotel if from a red list country, turkey or home country.

Thank you, are you sure he has to quarantine in a hotel regardless where he comes from? I thought people with spouse visa don’t have to.

He has to quarantine if coming from any red list country, there is no exception.

Thank you, are you sure he has to quarantine in a hotel regardless where he comes from? I thought people with spouse visa don’t have to.

Even British citizens returning from a red-list country need to quarantine in a managed-quarantine hotel, so I can't see how people in the UK on a spouse visa would be exempt.

The only two groups who are exempt from managed-quarantine being in hotels are

- nurses arriving in England to work for the NHS can quarantine in managed quarantine accommodation provided by the NHS trust they’ll be working for
- students travelling to attend a boarding school in England may be able to quarantine at their boarding school

Do have a read of the guidance on booking and staying in a quarantine hotel if you’ve been in a red list country as I think it will answer most of your questions.
