Is there anyone out there who can help me? I'm desperately trying to find a way for my parents to get out of Zimbabwe and come live in England. My whole family except my parents have been able to immigrate to the United Kingdom. Both my mother's birth parents were granted ancestral rights and are now living in England. Unfortunately my mother's ancestry application was refused. Reason being, the British Embassy in Harare, Zimbabwe said she does not qualify for ancestral rights because the dates from which her great grandparents were born in the United Kingdom date too far back for her to claim.
Zimbabwe is no longer the lovely country we all once loved. Everyday living gets harder and harder as the days go by and my parents are struggling to survive and to keep up with the constant escalation of inflation. They have to work for two or three different jobs at a time in aid to pay bills, buy food etc as a single salary is unable to keep up with inflation. They go weeks with out any electricity and water. During periods of food and fuel shortages they have to queue for hours upon hours only to be told they have run out once they have finally reached the front. Electronic cash machines are often found off line. If your lucky to find one on line you are only able to withdraw $20,000 Zimbabwe dollars which is barely enough to purchase a loaf of bread. Zimbabwe is also a very dangerous place to live. With the increase of unemployment, there are more break inn's and people being attacked and losing their lives just for a few pennies. Six months ago, my parents went shopping and when they came out their vehicle had been stolen leaving them to walk home with bags of goods in their hands. They then called the Police who were unable to investigate the crime because they had no fuel in their vehicles. To this day they still have not found who took the vehicle. I am worried for the well-being and metal health of my parents having to cope with these extremely stressful times at their age and fear the day when they are no longer able to work and look after themselves. They have both become very feral.
My older brother is in the British Army and has been for the last four years, he has done two tours to Afghanistan and is currently in Iraq for five months. He unfortunately has not got a British passport yet. I have recently married a British Citizen and have leave to remain in England. With my brother fighting on the front line protecting the United Kingdom surely there is a way for the United Kingdom to help my parents.
