Dual UK/NZ citizen return to UK using NZ passport — HELP!

Hi. We live in the UK are about to leave on holiday (to somewhere in the EU) and have realized one of our children’s passports has been mislaid. We do not have time to renew it before leaving.

Can she return to the UK on her NZ passport?
Other possibly relevant information: she is under 10. She was born here. The whole family has British passports. All but one parent also have NZ passports.

I know there’s no rule requiring that you enter the UK on your UK passport (or not one I could find), but there really isn’t a lot out there on this and we can’t be the first idiots to have this happen to them.

Yes it is possible. The NZ passport allows her to board a plane but British citizens are not subject to immigration control in the UK and so if you arrive at the UK border you will be admitted as a citizen. You just need to mention that she is a British citizen at the border so she is not admitted as a visitor (no stamps)
