British citizen married abroad

Post by Mkaratuna » Thu Nov 18, 2021 8:06 pm

I am a british citizen who moved abroad many many moons ago. I studied and worked in northern Cyprus, i am due to be married and have decided to further my career in the UK.

I can obviously come back home however my question is regarding my partner. He is a national of Northern cyprus and turkey. What are his options, he wants to work in the uk like i do. What visas are available to spouses where working is permitted?

Thank you for your help.

All spousal visas allow the non-British spouse to work in the UK.

However, there are very specific requirements for the British citizen spouse to meet before the non-British spouse can be sponsored.

You (the British citizen spouse) will need to either (a) hold a current job outside the UK earning more than £18,600 per annum AND have a confirmed job offer from the UK for a salary meeting the same earnings requirement OR (b) move to the UK on your own, get a job with a fixed salary amounting to £18,600 and then sponsor your husband to join you in the UK after at least six months of salary slips OR (c) demonstrate savings of at least £62,500 held in an easily accessible liquid account for at least six months.

The visa fees will be about £1625, with an additional Immigration Health Surcharge of £1875 (a total of about £3500) for a 2.5 year visa. Your husband will also need to pass an English language test of at least level A1.
