Hi Forum members, I heard a news that, Tier 1 General Visa processing has been stopped because of this Global Economy slowdown and most of the the people are not getting there Visa status even after 1.5 month after there filing. Please share your thoughts about this.

Having lived in UK, my personal opinion is that this is the time they would want revenue streams like visa charges and the money we take along with us would be important to UK economy.

Nevertheless, I am unable to discount the option of slowdown of visa process due to worst labour market conditions prevailing there.

I don't want to add fuel to it, as these types of things float a lot, but we don't know clearly what is right ?

But, I have been following up this forum and www.trackitt.com HSMP tracker, Ironically these days we don't see any Tier1 application from India benig approved after September 11, applications until September 11 were all processed before a month i.e., before Oct 11, but after that there are guys who applied on Sep 12, Sep 15... and as such, who should get it by Oct 12/Oct 13, or at the most by Oct 31, but nobody has a clear status of it, but for everybody the status in Integra complete and in the queue of Entry Clearance Officer. I don't see a valid reason, that for Sep 11 guys got before Oct 11, and guys who applied on Sep12, Sep 15 the next working days did not get it, and their status is like they have to check with BHC after two weeks, what's happening in all this time lag ? God knows, BHC knows

I have seen only one or couple of applications being processed which have been applied after Sep11, that too not from Hyderabad.

And where are those posts, everyday we use to see two or three guys posting in the forum that they have got their Tier1, even if there is a big backlog, atleast we should see 2 or 3 success cases in the forum everyday.

This is only the case with guys applied within India.

Tier 1 is fully operational and is positively encouraged as it brings the best to the UK. In times of downturn that is when you need Tier1 people more than ever.

There might be a slow down in processing the applications for any number of reasons but if you qualify you qualify. What will be the issue that is more of a concern will be the job avaialbilty in the UK for all but the very best.

E.g.

IT roles are shrinking and employers are shedding jobs in the thousands so the employee pool is increasing, the job market is contracting so why take on a Teir 1 body when there is a good possibilty of finding a UK/EEA candidate without the extra paperwork or risk.

During the current prevailing slowdown and economic downturn, while locals (British and currently residing immigrants) are loosing jobs, how could you justify the above statement?

If they are the best of the best in the world you want them here getting the best out of our economy not some where else.

It is not a general comment that applies to all tier 1 candidates - but the UK plc is in a competitive global market for the best talent and if we can not get the best we will suffer.

When times are hard the best get better.

at present job mkt is tight

if some one wants to apply t-1 with a fly of 4

it will cost £2400 visa
£ 2000 tickets

£ 4000+ bank bal

a good sum to invest but returns are not in short term

so think twice investing, such a sum and trying luck unless u got a svaing of 50k

I agree that UK is trying to attract the best talent, but even for the best of the best talent it will be difficult to secure a good job in the current conditions.
Especially for those migrants who are coming to UK for the first time, it will be even harder especially due to the lack of the "so called" UK experience. I'm not trying to discourage anyone with my comments, but these are facts that can't be ignored.

In my opinion the only one who is really benefetting from this is the UK government who is filling their wallet through the exhorbitant fees that they are charging.

I don't agree with that bit on during a downturn the UK needs immigrants.While in theory it sounds good , in practise its not going to go well with the masses. With a general election looming an a recession very likely immigration just will not go well with people who have been made redundant. I think its best to get your tier1 but decide to move to the UK based on the economic situation next year. Its also my personal opinion (please note personal) that the government might put a cap on tier1 immigration atleast temporarily.I dont believe they are doing it already.If you read the employment forum you will see that a few people have been saying (in the last month or 2) they are being made redundant and checking if they were elgible for redundancy pay. I work for a small company and like most small business times are hard. Ive been looking for jobs as well. While there is no denying there are jobs out there employers have become very picky and choosy and the wages have come down from what it was previously. In addition they also look at the personality of the person to see how they fit in the organization. Times are hard and if you have a very comfortable life and job in your own country you might want to give it a lot of thought before you take the plunge.

I think the ease or difficulty of getting a job depends on what industry you are in. So many jobs are still being put up by recruiters and on job sites. I think people are more scared than they should be.

if you dont' have struggles finding a job in the economioc downturn then you'll prob have struggles competing with the influx of immigrants who come to the UK when their is an unturn. It's all down to persistence really. If you want something, and do something about it, it will come in the end.

There is no safe and unsafe place on earth...

UK has exactly the same amount of thrills & challenges any other country would have in terms of finding a job. I would'nt be greedy to expect a job and would want to allow good time as I would expect in my own country. I would allow even more time considering new culture & new environment.

Honestly, I never wanted to bother about economy downturn, job market, GDP's and credit crunch unless I want to pick the role of Prime minister or Chancellor which is very unlikely since I'm not a British citizen.

Where there is a will, there is a way.... there's a place for you, me & everyone.
