Is visit visa curtailed if student visa refused?

Hi all,

My sister has visited UK few times in last 10 years and still holds valid visit visa for another few years.

Question is, if she was to now apply for student visa (out of country) and for whatever reason if the student visa is refused, what would be the status of her current valid visit visa? could she continue to visit UK on the same visa for short stays? or does it have any repercussions?
