The company that you wish to transfer to needs to apply for the permit to be transferred to themselves. You will also then need to apply for FLR to coinside with the duration of the new permit.

They will also possibly need to advertise the job opening if it is not on the skills shortage list before they are able to fill the post with yourself. There are alot of websites with information around this area.

Assuming you are here on the basis of a work permit (and not HSMP/Tier 1):

Any new employer will also need a work permit,
BUT
The work permit system is changing from 27 November. Under the new "points based" system your next employer would have to be registered with the Home Office and issue you with a "certificate of sponsorship".

If you change employer, you must also renew your visa (i.e. apply for FLR - further leave to remain). If you and your employerapply after 27 November you will have to apply under the points based system, and this will involve having to show that you meet the points requirements:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/worki ... angementa/

The UKBA website says:
If you are an existing work permit holder and you wish to change employment (unless you are a senior care worker, see transitional arrangement D), you will need to meet the full Tier 2 criteria.
The "full criteria" include an English language requirement, amongst other things.

If your new employer gets the work permit before 27 November then you can apply for FLR under the old requirements (AFAIK - please other posters correct me if you think this is wrong!).

Hi John 2078,

Check also the BIA website if you are qualified to apply as a Tier1 skilled worker. You will need any employer to apply for you on this but you must meet all the Tier1 requirements to do this. Also, make sure that your LTR(Leave To Remain) on your Work Permit is still valid before sending the Tier1 application if you are qualified.

I wish you well.

Cheers.
