Enter on alternate passport while waiting for Visa

Hello, would this be illegal, or would it negatively affect the visa application?

Background :Visas applied for: Family (spouse and dependent). It's been 70 working days and waiting.

While we wait for the visas to be approved on their South African passports, (delayed by Ukrainian crisis), are my wife and son allowed to enter the UK on their Dutch EU passport as tourists? Then when the visas are granted (within a month or so) they would exit the UK and enter with their new visa?

I don't want to do anything illegal, or that would jeopardize the application.

Still no answer. I have tried to answer this by phoning the UKVI contact helpdesk, as well as a local council in London. Neither of them were able to help me. UKVI just said 'we cannot confirm' - I'm not even sure if they understood

The question remains:
If my spouse has dual nationality: South Africa and EU, can she visit the UK with her EU passport while her SA passport is in process for a family spousal visa?

Can anyone give me some conclusive answer or point me in the right direction?

If someone is busy applying to stay in the UK longer than 6 months on one passport, can they visit in the mean time while they wait for the result, by using another passport (e.g. Using a visa-free EU passport) ? In other words they have dual nationality.

No answer probably because no one has knowledge about this particular question of yours and rather than give you wrong advice that could negatively impact the applicant's immigration chances and or history, nothing is said.
If there are other avenues to check what your options are you may want to explore them.
