Urgent...Dependent given entirely different visa and duration...what to do?

Post by helpsie » Thu Apr 28, 2022 2:46 pm

hi guys!

I applied and got my swv this week (within the UK)...my dependent applied as well, using my 16-digit application ID and for swv dependent. Yesterday she got an email saying its sucessfull, but the visa is for dependent student route and the expiry is in a few months (I applied for 5 year swv). I think they used my student visa dates for the application but the visa given to my dependent is entirely wrong...what should I do now? call ukvi? write to the admin.review enquiries email? what happens if we write to them? or do we wait until we both get our BRPs? or shoud I get my employer to deal with this?

we are so worried guys because the application was straightforward, and i got approved. wasn't expecting this at all....thanks for reading and helping.

Student dependants and SW dependants use the same form. Any chance you used your student visa information when filling out the form? This case is appalling and a bit hard to believe how UKVI made such a mistake. If you are sure you did it right, wait for your dependant's BRP to confirm if it is just an error in the email. You can apply for admin review https://www.gov.uk/ask-for-a-visa-admin ... -in-the-uk within 14 days of receiving BRP. Your employer won't be able help in this case.

thank you so much for your reply...it's a very confusing time.

I found it very hard to beleive what I saw too....the part in bold in the email said "successful for student dependent visa" and then the new expiry is much ahead of even what my dependent currently has....so we checked again n again....the application form says dependent for 'swv' and she gave my UAN of my swv application....and we even submitted it only two days after I submitted mine so that we coud be entirely accurate to answer "has the main applicant submitted their application".....n no, no ihs refund either...so hoping its an email mistake...but so worrying

So now we wait for the brp, then in applying for the administrative review, do we just write an email to the address mentioned? the bit for applying online n paying £80 on top of all the fees ans ihs charges looks like its only for a refusal, which this isn't...

i also saw the possibility for asking a BRP correction for wrong condition/ date...should we do both of these or just the admin review?

thanks a lot!!

If your application was granted but you’re unhappy with the amount or conditions of your leave, you must email the Home Office within 14 days of getting your biometric residence permit.

Home Office
admin.review.enquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk
Only admin review is needed. If successful you will get a new BRP.

Is the BRP also wrong?

Wait for reply.

yes it was wrong :( so frustrating but thats what it is, sadly.

Any idea how long we need to wait to hear back etc and whether this email by itself will b enough? Anyone else gone thru this experience, mebbe?

On a uni website, i saw that they said the answer to this email will b that either we can apply for admin review or not...but they also say that if its not filed within 14 days n paying the amount, it may not be considered...wud b grateful for any help.
