SET(M) Life in the UK Test Question

Post by MrGamgee » Wed May 11, 2022 10:08 pm

Hi

As I will be applying for indefinite leave to remain in 2 years time, I started preparing for the life in the UK Test.

When booking the test, it asks for country of birth and then another question for town or city of birth.

The tricky thing is this; my country issues passports with Place of Birth as the country only. Town/City of birth is NOT mentioned on the passport but is mentioned on my birth certificate instead. My BRP also mentions Place of Birth as the country only as well. The FLR(M) application forms always had two questions, one asking country of birth and another asking for place of birth so the place of birth I always put down the town/city which I was born in (based on the assumption that the application form differentiates between the place of birth and country of birth) but for me the BRP has the country as the place of birth.

My question is, what do I put down as the town/city of birth on the application for the life in the UK Test? Can I be turned away for putting down my town of birth while my passport/BRP does not mention it and only mentions the country I was born in?

Any help is appreciated.

Input dame as you have on the document of identification you will be using. It must corroborate ID.

But my ID does not mention town or city of birth. Wouldn't this be inaccurate to put down country of birth as country and then town or city of birth as country?

Do the right thing! You can't be rejected for answering with the correct answer. For example, if you were born in Liverpool, no one would expect you to put England as city of birth.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
