*** Alternate option to spouse visa***

Hello, everyone!
I hope everyone is doing well.
I am a naturalized British citizen, now residing in India with plans to relocate to the UK for a 12-month job assignment by the end of this month.
My 2-year-old son has a British passport, and my wife has an Indian passport. I need your advice on visa that I can apply to invite my wife to UK other than spouse visa.
Reason I don’t want to invite my wife on spouse visa is
1) It takes close to 24 weeks for UK immigration to make a decision on spouse visa.
2) We don’t have plans to extend our stay.
3) Fees on spouse visa is too high.

There isn't an alternative to the spouse visa for the spouse of a British citizen applying on that basis. She could apply for a different visa (student, work, etc) visa in her own right.

She would almost certainly fail the test for a visit visa as she will be traveling with a British spouse and son to the UK and would have a hard time proving that she will leave the UK at the end of six months.

There is no "one year" visa.

Can't she travel on a tourist visa or friend visit visa (One of her friend has kindly agreed to sponsor her friend visa documents to invite her)? We are happy if she gets 6 months visa also.

For a visit visa (and there is no distinguishing between a tourist visa and a friend visit visa, there is just one type of visit visa), the applicant, your wife, needs to convince the Entry Clearance Officer that she has stronger links to her country of habitual residence than to the UK AND that she intends to return back from the UK within six months.

If her husband and son are in, or planning to be in, the UK, the first point will be rather difficult.
