Hi all,
Firstly, apologies if this has already been touched upon. I have searched the board but cannot find anything, so please direct me to where it is if there is already an answer...
My wife's spouse visa is due for renewal in September this year. I myself have recently gone self-employed (May 2022) and sold a property in February 2022 which has left me with cash savings above the required £62,500 limit of a spouse visa renewal. It is these cash savings that we will be using as proof of funds for my wife's visa renewal, along with supporting documentation.
We have read the gov.uk website regarding the requirements but can't seem to clear up if we are able to apply now (June 2022) based on the cash savings (that we've had for 4-months so far)? The gov.uk site says you can apply at any time to extend but cash savings funds must be held for a minimum of 6-months. They also say that if a property has been sold within that period and you are using these funds as proof, you can apply so long as the the relevant documentation is provided (I have read it as the property must of been an investment property overseas - ours was in the UK). Additionally, I have read elsewhere online via immigration lawyer websites that the earliest you should apply for renewal is 28-days before expiry. Can someone kindly clear this up for me before we apply?
Thank you so much,
Callum
