ILR BRP Queries

Post by tangocharlieroger » Fri Jun 17, 2022 11:22 am

Hi all,
If someone can answer this one.

When my husband applied for ILR Back in Aug 2015 (Now he is a naturalized British Citizen), His BRP card had expiry date: 31-12-2024 (He was granted 9 years 4 month duration of validity on his BRP at the time of his successful application).

Today i received my ILR BRP Card, i noticed that one has also got expiry: 31-12-2024. (Meaning validity of just 2 years & 6 months)

I was expecting this duration to be quite longer. My questions are:

1. Are they issuing everyone ILR BRP with same expiry date (31/12/2024) these days? If yes, this is quite awkward, any reason behind it?

2. I also noticed that there was no chip at the back of card (Like i had in my FLR-M Crad, which was slightly more 'pinkish' in color, This one is combination of Pink and Blue shades). Having no chip, will it still be readable by biometric machine at immigration desk when entering UK.

3. Upon Expiry, What will be the cost of BRP replacement (any ideas).

Answers to all 3 points will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

If your BRP expires on 31 December 2024
You do not need to tell UKVI if your BRP expires on 31 December 2024 but your immigration status (for example, your visa) allows you to stay longer.

You will not need a BRP from 1 January 2025. You’ll be able to prove your immigration status online, without a BRP.
I guess replacement cost is unknown at the moment, if it will cost anything even, since they hope to move digital.
