Meeting financial requirements with job offer for applicant

Post by dudewithacamera » Sat Jul 16, 2022 9:42 pm

Sorry if this has been covered, but I couldn't find it on here already. I'm a US citizen married to a UK citizen. I work in the US, and I have a job offer in the UK (contingent on getting a visa). Both jobs pay above the minimum. However, my wife who would be my UK sponsor, doesn't work. Can my employment be used to meet the financial requirement? I think I'm reading that the job offer has to be for the sponsor, not the applicant, but I have no idea why this would be.

The employer is not currently able to sponsor a work visa, although they are applying to do so. So I'm trying to find a way to avoid having to wait for that.

Thank you!

Applicant employment income does not count however, if you have a savings of 62,500 for either or both of you combine together then this can be used.

But the UK website says "You and your partner must have a combined income of at least £18,600 a year". So doesn't that mean that the applicant's income counts?

We do not have more that 16k saved up.

Thanks for the reply.

Appendix FM Financial Requirement

"Where the applicant’s partner (and/or the applicant if they are in the UK with
permission to work) is in salaried employment at the date of application"
