leave start date, on submission date or approval date ?

Thank you for considering this post.

Well basically, for a spouse visa, dose a leave begins from the date the application is submitted or on the date it has been approved ?

For example, if the application has been submitted on 06/08/2022 and we don't hear back from HO until 06/12/2022, is the leave start date on 06/08/2022, or is it on 06/12/2022?

I'm a dual national (one being British) and married an American citizen. We want her to have her citizenship as well so we can live together in the UK.

currently, we are in the stage of submitting an application to HO, all the documents check out so far but we are just having difficulties planning around the wait time.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Valid date for the visa is from date of approval and not from date you submit the application.
