DURATION OF STAY FOR A VISITOR VISA HOLDER

Post by tsar_bomb36 » Sun Sep 04, 2022 1:24 pm

Hi experienced immigration experts, I have a query on behalf of a family member with a 2 year standard visitor visa. I'm aware as a visitor visa holder, one is not allowed to stay past 6 months at a time. What happens if a visitor enters UK but leaves the UK within the 6 months maximum allowed stay for only two days and comes back to UK, will the 6 months maximum stay start counting afresh upon re-entry into UK?
NOTE : The country she left the UK for 2 days is not her home country where she originally obtained the 2 years visitors visa and came to UK.
THANK YOU

You shouldn't be spending more time in the UK within a 12 month rolling period, than you're spending in your home country.
Plus I would say that ECO on the border would not like this one bit.

UKVI/POE knows all these plans of going to France or Ireland etc for few days and returning. It doesn't work any more and such persons may face cancellation of the visa and or ban.

Answered many times on these forums. Also see this recent post on the same topic.

The 2 year visit visa can also be curtailed at the border and the visitor put on the next flight out, if the Immigration Officer feels that the visa holder is abusing the visa. And once a curtailment is on the records, it may be impossible for the person to get another visa to the UK.

It would also be unwise for the person to spend 6 months in the UK in one go.
