UKVCAS IDV App or Appointment?

Post by thisispingl » Tue Oct 11, 2022 11:50 pm

Hi there,

Sorry, I hope this isn't a stupid question. 😅

My friend has submitted her citizenship application, and the UKVCAS emailed her and suggested downloading the app - which means she can upload her documents and doesn't need a UKVCAS appointment.

May we know which route would be better and safer for the document submission? Via the app or go to the appointment? She prepared many documents and thinks it would be good to have a second opinion during the appointment when she brings the original copies. However, there won't be a second opinion if uploading documents via the app.

PS. my friend is a Chinese national and has her ILR via the 10-year route.

Many thanks,
P.

She will not get a second opinion at the appointment. It's not an immigration service, UKVCAS only collects biometrics and submits them to UKVI.

The app is supposed to be quick and easy. You take a picture, uploadnyoru documents, and everything gets sent to UKVI with no need to travel.

This being said, many users are reporting issues with the IDV app, with emails warning them that they haven't submitted biometrics in time. So if your friend wants to avoid more stress, maybe this is one advantage of the appointment in person.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.
